The $10,000 Website Problem: Can Your Firm’s Site Answer These 3 Client Questions in 10 Seconds?
You spent $10,000 on a beautiful new website.
Pro photography. Dramatic photo of courthouse columns – so professional
There’s just one problem:
There are 3 hot button prerequisites necessary to maximize conversion - and you DON’T have them all!
When someone lands on your website, they aren’t there to admire your design choices. They need help
And within about 10 seconds, your website needs to answer 3 questions:
1. Do You Handle MY Problem?
Your homepage may proudly proclaim:
“Providing Exceptional Legal Representation With Integrity and Excellence.”
Fantastic - But what do you actually do?
Your visitor shouldn’t need to scroll, click through three menus to figure it out.
Be specific -
“Injured in an accident? We help you pursue the compensation you deserve.”
“Facing divorce? Get a clear plan for protecting your family, finances, and future.”
Your prospective client should immediately think:
“Yep. These people help someone like me.”
2. Why Should I Trust YOU?
Lawyers love credentials.
Awards. Associations. Years in practice. Superlatives. Plaques. Badges. Logos. Enough framed certificates to wallpaper a conference room.
And credentials certainly have their place
But your prospect is asking a more personal question:
“Have you successfully helped people in my situation before?”
Show them
Client testimonials. Reviews. Case results where appropriate. Specific experience. Short stories about problems you’ve solved.
Don’t just tell people you’re good - Give them a reason to believe it
3. What Do I Do Next?
This is the easiest question to answer—and somehow one of the easiest to mess up.
Once your prospect decides they might want your help, make the next step painfully obvious.
- Schedule a consultation
- Call now
- Request a case evaluation
Pick one primary action and make it impossible to miss.
If your potential client has to conduct a scavenger hunt to figure out how to hire you, there’s a decent chance they’ll find another lawyer before they find your contact form.
Try the 10-Second Test
Here’s something you can do today:
Pull up your firm’s homepage on a phone. Hand it to someone who doesn’t work at your firm and give them 10 seconds to look at it.
Then take the phone away.
Ask them:
What kind of clients does this firm help?
Why would you trust them?
What are you supposed to do next?
If they can answer all three, congratulations. Your website is doing its job!
If they can’t?
Before spending another $5,000 on Google Ads, SEO, social media, or the latest marketing strategy someone promised would “10X your pipeline”…
Fix the website you’re sending all those people to
Because your website doesn’t need to impress your prospective clients.
It needs to remove their uncertainty - and make taking the next step ridiculously easy.
